Job Summary

Rapid Rentals’ Maintenance Engineers are essential to generator set operation, maintenance, and repair. You will oversee generator installations, repairs, maintenance, inspections, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and generator efficiency.
General Obligations

Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and inspection records.
Provide generator performance, maintenance, and improvement reports.
Provide on-call generator support and reply quickly.
Emergency repairs and troubleshooting reduce downtime.
Comply with industry standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Maintain a safe workplace for generator-related operations.
Working with other departments and team members to integrate generators into customer projects.
Effectively communicate generator issues to clients, colleagues, and suppliers.
Essential Tasks

Own the generator fleet.
Assess assets and report their condition weekly to the Operations and Logistics Manager.
Advise, supervise, and fix as needed.
Keep a log of generator sets signed in and out of jobs to verify their status before the following job.
Maintaining careful control over servicing, repairs, adjustments (screws, bolts, belts, battery terminals, doors, exhausts, etc.), and top-ups maximizes generator sets’ “uptime” and workability.
Inspect generators and monitor “warming” daily.
After using each generator set, debrief field technicians to identify difficulties.
Remove damaged assets from service and repair immediately.
Keep generators maintained every 200hrs (max 240).
Maintain generator/truck service and maintenance records separately.
Manage replacement parts orders with your supervisor.
Keep accurate records of required tests, checks, and observations.
Fix/diagnose mechanical/electrical machine faults.
Key Performance Indicators

Minimize downtime by efficiently performing maintenance.
Address emergency generator concerns quickly to minimize disturbance.
Enforce industry norms and rules in all maintenance.
Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and inspection records.
Customer satisfaction with generator performance and maintenance.
Follow preventive maintenance programs to avoid breakdowns
Effective generator diagnosis and repair.
Job Needs

Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or comparable discipline required.
Experienced in generator maintenance and repair up to 1000KVA.
Minimum 3 years of Cummins diesel engine and generator fault-finding and servicing expertise.
Technical knowledge of synchronized controls.
Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Health and safety standards
Flexible, adaptable work ethic and excellent communication abilities.
Ability to operate independently and collaboratively under pressure, and interact effectively with superiors, customers, and coworkers.
Driving with a license.
