Main Functions

  • Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by Contractors and subcontractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with Company specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the team’s goals, objectives, and procedures. Assures accurate and timely communication among the team and other company Functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports for use by engineering, management, or sales personnel.
  • Maintain contact with, and formulate reports for, contractors and clients in order to ensure completion of work at minimum cost.
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory bodies in order to ensure repairs and alterations are at minimum cost, consistent with safety.
  • Procure materials needed to repair marine equipment and machinery.
  • Act as liaisons between ships’ captains and shore personnel in order to ensure that schedules and budgets are maintained, and that ships are operated safely and efficiently.
  • Check, test, and maintain automatic controls and alarm systems.
  • Maintain records of engineering department activities, including expense records and details of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform monitoring activities in order to ensure that ships comply with international regulations and standards for life saving equipment and pollution preventatives.
  • Prepare plans, estimates, design and construction schedules, and contract specifications, including any special provisions.
  • Schedule machine overhauls and the servicing of electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewage systems.

  • A robust CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is evidenced by a comprehensively implemented Preventive Maintenance program that covers all the Safety and Production critical equipment and commences prior to the RFSU (Ready for Start Up) date.

The Purpose of the job is:

  • To ensure a Mechanical discipline-focused fully populated Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is in place for use by company for the commissioning and start-up phase of the project.
  • The Maintenance Management System will provide the asset team with accurate and relevant data to support the Maintenance and Integrity processes including; preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection and corrosion management, integrity assurance of Safety Critical Elements, and integrity and cost performance

Main Accountabilities

  • Accountable for Mechanical aspect of detailed planning (L3/4) of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) build scope), KPI?s (Key Performance Indicator) and progress measurement indicators. Job Requirements
Education:

Experience:

  • 10+ years? experience in MRTA (Maintenance & Reliability Improvement and Turnaround) in the Oil and Gas industry, at least 2 of which will have been in a major project environment.
  • Extensive field experience in managing Maintenance systems setup and delivery in project or in an asset
  • Previous role will require experience in a similar role in major project delivery or asset involving complex processing, new technologies, change management/ business

Ensure compliance to applicable local/international regulations and Company referential:

  • Make input on Technical Safety documents for facilities /assets design, operation, and abandonment, in conformity with Group, Industry, and Statutory requirements.
  • Provide Safety Engineering support on studies conducted internally and follow up Safety Engineering studies undertaken by Contractors as assigned by hierarchy.

Provide support to operated facilities:

  • Undertake periodic updates of facility Safety Concepts.
  • and make necessary inputs to all safety-related modifications and corresponding engineering documents to existing facilities (P&ID, ESD Logic, Fire and Gas Cause and effects charts, Active and passive firefighting, fire and gas detection, escape and evacuation route, Hazardous area classification, Safety layout, flare radiation)
  • Undertake the development, review, and update of Operational Safety Cases in line with regulatory (NUPRC) requirements for operated sites in Nigeria.

Risk Assessment:

  • Lead specific Safety Engineering studies/reviews in support of the Request for Modification (RFM) process and Downgraded Situations (DGS) ? HAZOP, HAZID, BowTie Assessment, etc.
  • Support operational entities in Derogation preparation.
  • Undertake flammable/toxic gas dispersion, fire, and explosion consequence modeling using PHAST software, and interpret results for the safe operation of oil and gas facilities.
  • Undertake Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) assessment process and SIL assignment for Safety Instrumented Systems within oil and gas facilities in line with GS GR HSE 306.

Major Risk Management:

  • Facilitate Safety and Environmental Critical Element (SECE) identification workshops and the follow-up of Safety Engineering responsibilities as specified in GS GR HSE 311.

Conduct functional roles related to Well Performance through the following:

  • Prognosis of well potentials from the results of well tests and interpretations provided by the Reservoir using the Prosper well model
  • Follow up on actual wells production or injection, while identifying well production shortfalls and analysing their origins
  • Co-ordinate reservoir, drilling/completion, and production multi-disciplinary expertise to propose curative actions for under-performing wells and quantifying the expected benefits
  • Schedule light well interventions considering production, drilling/completion and reservoir requirements and provide post-mortem analysis after corrective actions
  • Keep close contact with production operations to follow up on the day-to-day behaviour of the wells, and the implementation of necessary adjustments
  • Establish scope of requirements prior to any well completion or re-completion
  • Regular communications with the Well Performance engineering department (FP) in head office for technical support and feedback
  • Implement procedures for well start-up and clean-up and updating Well Performance indicators

  • Be physically on site for well operations assistance
